Housing Connect

Apply for affordable housing lotteries in NYC. Housing Connect is NYC's affordable housing portal where you can find and apply for affordable apartments and homes across the five boroughs.

Create an account on Housing Connect to browse and apply for affordable housing lotteries. You can search by neighborhood, income level, and household size.

Eligibility varies by development, but generally based on household size and income level.

Medicaid

Free or low-cost health coverage for eligible New Yorkers. Medicaid provides comprehensive health insurance coverage including doctor visits, hospital care, prescription drugs, and more.

You can apply online through NY State of Health, by phone, or in person at a Human Resources Administration (HRA) office. You can also apply at community organizations and hospitals.

Available to low-income adults, children, pregnant women, elderly adults, and people with disabilities. Income limits vary by household size.

SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)

Formerly known as food stamps, SNAP helps low-income New Yorkers buy food. Benefits are provided on an EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) card that works like a debit card.

Apply online through ACCESS HRA, by phone, or visit your local HRA office. You can also get help applying at community-based organizations throughout NYC.

Available to low-income individuals and families. Income and resource limits apply based on household size.

NYC 311

NYC's non-emergency hotline and online service portal. Use 311 to report non-emergency issues, get information about city services, file complaints, and request city services.

Call 311 from any phone, use the 311 app, or visit the 311 website. Available 24/7 in over 170 languages. You can report issues like potholes, streetlight outages, noise complaints, and more.

Available to all NYC residents and visitors.

Child Care Vouchers

Child care vouchers help cover child care costs for ages 6 weeks to 13 years old and up to age 19 for children with disabilities. Thousands of home-based and center-based providers across NYC accept them.

Apply through the Administration for Children's Services (ACS) or through contracted agencies. You can apply online, by phone, or at an ACS office.

Available to low-income families with children under 13 (or under 19 with special needs) who need child care while parents work, attend school, or participate in job training.
